Instructions

Craft Time: ~1.5 hours total (~15 minutes per card)

For Each Card

  • Fold the card along the score line, with the small bump on the inside. Use the bone folder for a crisp fold.

  • Prepare the glue bottle: Open the lid, remove the stopper, and screw the valve cap back on.

  • Use a small amount of glue to prevent paper warping.

  • Lay out all pieces before attaching them. Follow the steps below for the correct layering order.

  • Foam adhesives: Use wherever you’d like to add dimension.

  • Inside sentiments: These are optional. Add them if you’d like!

Card #1: Yay Hooray

  • Attach each letter over its outline using foam adhesive. Layer the center “O” on top, and the “!” behind the “Y” .

  • Attach the “Happy Birthday!” banner using foam adhesive.

  • Glue your choice of star or heart to the center of the “O.”

Card #2:Hooray Pennant

  • Glue each pennant end to its pennant base.

  • Attach the finished pennants to the card front using foam adhesive, following the printed pennants.

Card #3: Eat Cake

  • Glue the cake to the cake stand, and the “Eat Cake & Celebrate” piece to the top of the cake.

  • Attach the finished piece to the card front using foam adhesive, following the outline.

Card #4: Party Balloons

  • Glue the glitter panel to the card front.

  • Glue the white “Yay Happy Birthday!” panel on top of the glitter panel.

  • Cut three pieces of string, approximately 4 inches each.

  • Add several foam adhesives to the back of each balloon. Place one end of a string over one piece of foam adhesive, then attach each balloon to the card front, covering the outlines.

  • Attach the “Party! Party! Party!” banner over its outline using foam adhesive, tucking the loose ends of the strings underneath.

Card #5: Celebrate

  • Fold along all score lines. Use the bone folder for crisp folds.

  • Lift the top flap.

  • Add a small amount of shaker pieces from each bag to the center of the card. You will have extra.

  • Remove the yellow adhesive backing.

  • Peel the protective film from both sides of the acetate sheet, then center and attach the acetate over the adhesive.

  • Working one tab at a time, remove the adhesive backing from the side tabs. Add a few small dots of glue for a stronger hold, then fold over the acetate sheet. Press the edges inward firmly so the finished shaker is no wider than the card. Hold in place while the glue dries.

  • Repeat with the bottom tab, folding it up over the acetate sheet.

  • Before removing the next adhesive backings, fold down the top flap to make sure it is centered and straight, covering the entire card front. Adjust the fold if needed. Then remove the backings from the three tabs, add a few small dots of glue, and fold down the top flap to secure. Press firmly for several seconds.

  • Glue the finished shaker piece to the card base.

Card #6: Birthday Present Card

  • Fold along all score lines. Fold the top white section down so it is hidden inside the card, adjusting the fold with the bone folder as needed.

  • Fold the two flaps on the “Happy Birthday!” piece and glue them together to form a loop.

  • Slide the “Happy Birthday!” piece onto the white flap. Make sure it is positioned correctly so the words are in the right place and the piece slides up and down.

  • Fold the blue vellum strips along their score lines. Stack the strips, slide them through the slit at the bottom of the card, and fold them over the top. Fold and glue the ends inside the card.

  • Layer and glue the three vellum bow pieces together, smallest to largest. Attach the finished bow to the back of the sliding “Happy Birthday!” piece.

  • Cut a 6-inch piece of string and tie it into a bow. Glue the string bow to the “Pull Me” tab, then attach the tab to the vellum bow on the “Happy Birthday!” piece.

  • Test the “Happy Birthday!” piece to make sure it slides smoothly before closing the card.

  • Remove the adhesive backing from the folded-in white inside section and add a few small dots of glue. Secure it to the inside of the card.

  • Remove the adhesive backing from the side flaps and add a few small dots of glue. Fold the card closed and press firmly to secure, being careful not to get glue on the sliding piece.
