Kit Contents:

  • Frame / Sewing Base

  • String - Sea Glass (9.5’), Watermelon (6’), Grapefruit (9’), Poppy (12’)

Instructions

Craft Time: ~1 hour

Prep work:

  1. Determine which color of string you want to start with. Remove the band around the string. 

  2. Thread the needle — Due to the thickness of the string, we have included some small strips of paper with the needle to assist you when threading the needle. 

    • Fold a paper strip in half lengthwise. Place the string in the crease. Push the folded paper through the eye of the needle.
    • Tie a knot at the end of the string. Make sure the knot is big enough to stop the string from passing through the holes of your frame.

Color Guide:  Use the following string colors to complete your sign:

  • Sea Glass: “In” and “LOVE”

  • Grapefruit: “WITH” and the ♡

  • Poppy: “Love”

  • Watermelon: Starburst lines on both sides of the phrase

Stitching:

  1. Turn your sewing base over and bring the needle up through the first hole. Pull the string all the way through until the knot at the end stops it from coming out.

  2. Follow the holes and sew using a simple backstitch:

    1. Go down into the next hole.

    2. Then come up through the following hole.

    3. Then stitch back into the hole you skipped.

    4. Keep repeating this to make a smooth line.

  3. When you finish a color, flip the base over, tie a small knot in the back to secure your stitches, and trim the extra string.   

Finishing your sign:

  1. Prepare the backer — Locate the Sea Glass colored backer piece. Lay it flat with the colored side facing up. Fold along the score lines, folding the flaps upward.

  2. Peel off the adhesive backing from all four sides.

  3. Place your finished sign face down on a flat surface.

  4. Position the backer inside the back of the frame so it covers all the knots and stitching. The Sea Glass colored side should be facing out.  

  5. Press firmly along all four adhesive sides to attach the backer securely to the frame. Your frame is now complete and ready to display from any angle.
