Instructions
Craft Time: ~1.5 hour
-
Prepare the glue bottle: Open the lid, remove the stopper, and screw the valve cap back on.
Prepare the Leaves
-
Remove the leaves from the bag labeled Long Leaves.
-
Each long leaf piece has a small rectangle notch cut into the stem area. Locate the score line inside this rectangle and fold.
-
Using the bone folder, gently curl each leaf just enough to give them some shape. For a more natural, realistic look, curl some leaves in the opposite direction.
Tip: As you curl the leaves, be sure to hold the base of each leaf firmly to avoid tearing.
-
Set the long leaves aside and then curl each of the leaves in the bag labeled Short Leaves.
-
Once all the leaves are curled, you’re ready to attach them to your wreath base.
Attach Leaves to Base
- Lay the wreath base on a flat surface. Using a pencil, mark the base at 3.5 cm (about 1 ⅜”) intervals to guide leaf placement.
- You don’t need to follow these markings exactly, but they help space the leaves evenly.
- Create small clusters of leaves. Each cluster consists of one long leaf and one short leaf, alternating between the two colors of short leaves. You will make 26 cluster in total.
- With the long leaves folded in half, notice that both leaf types have a small square at the base of the stem. Insert one short leaf inside the folded long leaf, sandwiching it between the layers. Align the square bases neatly so the edges line up evenly.
- Decide which direction you want the leaves to flow (clockwise or counterclockwise) and attach all clusters facing that way.
- Start with an Ivory-colored leaf cluster. Lay it flat on top of the wreath base so the leaves rest sideways along the curve. Align the stems over one of the pencil markings.
- Tear off a 3–4 inch piece of tape and wrap it tightly around both the leaf stems and the wreath base to secure the cluster.
- Continue adding cluster about 3.5 cm (1 ⅜”) apart, alternating Ivory and Eucalyptus short leaves. Slightly overlap each cluster with the previous one for a full, layered look. Tip: Use the pencil markings to evenly space cluster.
- Continue until the entire wreath base is covered and you meet back at the starting point.
- Adjust leaves as needed to fill gaps and create a balanced, natural appearance.
Attach Stems & Berries
-
Locate the stems and enamel berries. Peel and stick one berry onto each small circle on the stem (one side only).
-
Arrange the stems around your wreath to experiment with placement before gluing.
-
Each stem has a small square at the bottom. Apply a drop of glue to the square and press the stem onto the back of a leaf. Hold for several seconds to set.
Tip: For a clean, finished look, attach stems to the back of the leaves so the connection points are hidden, and position berries to peek out naturally.
