Decorate Envelopes
-
Prepare the glue bottle — Open the lid, remove the stopper, and screw the valve cap back on.
-
Watermelon envelopes — For each envelope, peel and stick the LOVE enamel letters to the front (flat side).
-
Sea Glass envelopes — For each envelope, peel and stick a large Watermelon heart to the back flap.
-
White envelopes — For each envelope, glue a Poppy heart postage stamp to the front upper right corner. Add a White enamel heart to the center of each Poppy postage stamp.
-
Nectar envelopes — Start by gluing a Sea Glass square to the back of a White “XOXO” postage stamp.
-
- Set postage stamps aside until you have attached the envelopes to the twine at a later step. After the envelopes have been attached to the garland, you will glue the XOXO postage stamps over the back flap of the Nectar envelopes.
Assemble Garland
- Prepare the twine — Remove the twine from the belly band. Measure 6 inches, fold that section in half, and tie a knot to make a hanging loop.
-
Thread the needle — Thread the opposite end of the twine through the needle.
Tip: Fold a small strip of paper around the twine and use that to guide it through the needle’s eye. - Add a pom pom — Using the needle, thread the twine through the center of a pom pom. Be sure the needle passes through the center of the pom pom to stay secure.
- Attach an envelope — Take a White envelope, peel the adhesive backing from the back flap, slide the twine under the flap into the crease, and then press to seal. Make sure the envelope is facing forward (flat side facing forward) and hangs securely from the twine.
- Thread on another pom pom.
- Continue this pattern — Pom pom → envelope → pom pom → envelope, leaving about 1 ½ inches of space between each item along the twine.
-
Envelope color order — White → Nectar → Watermelon → Sea Glass
-
The following envelopes face forward (flat side facing forward) - Watermelon and White.
-
The following envelopes face backwards (flap side facing forward) - Sea Glass and Nectar. Now you may add the postage stamp to the Nectar envelopes after attaching to the twine.
-
-
Finish the garland — When all pom poms and envelopes are added, tie a loop at the end of the twine, and trim any extra.
-
Use the loops on each end to hang your garland and enjoy your handmade string of love notes!
